4 – 2: Confirmed Dead
*This commentary contains spoilers. Do not read if you have not seen the above mentioned episode.*
So, Ben’s a wanted man. Why? We can only speculate at this point, but he was willing to kill in order not to be captured, and it proves that whatever he’s wanted for, it’s something big.
Going back into flashback mode, we were introduced to a crack team of 4 people that make up part of Naomi’s group. A wet-behind–the ears physicist, Daniel; a ghost whisperer, Miles; an excavator, Charlotte; and the pilot who was originally supposed to fly Oceanic 815, Frank. All four were from different parts of the world, but their story begins when coverage of Oceanic 815’s crash and subsequent deep-sea revelation. Some are emotional (Daniel), while some just downright don’t believe the news (both Frank & Charlotte). But the pivotal point in the flashbacks was Charlotte’s; while excavating the remains of a Polar Bear in the Tunisian desert (that’s right, a polar bear in Tunisia), she finds a collar that has a Dharma logo on it. Seems Dharma wasn’t simply confined to the island after all…
Which brings us to why Ben could possibly be wanted by these seemingly unfit rogue group who were brought together by the mystery man who visited Hurley in the institution and lead by Naomi. Are they part of the Dharma group who are out to kill Ben because of what he did to the Dharma team on the island?
It didn’t take long to discover that these four were on a rescue mission, and tension was
building even before they landed when Penny told Charlie she didn’t know Naomi and had no freighter off the coast of the island. But, like Naomi knew of Desmond and his past, Ben seemed to know an awful lot about the new visitors claiming he had a spy on their boat. Is it someone we’ve seen? Someone we’ve yet to meet?
Rumors have been abound that a veteran cast member will be returning to the show; someone who was given the golden ticket off the island (pun intended). Could it be this person was working for Ben all along?
Again, we can only speculate at this point.
