2008 - Geoff Nelder (60) after teaching for 30 years is discovering the
joys of self-employed freelance writing and editing. Finding time to research
and write is so much easier now he sends his wife out for the day job. He lives
in Chester and has two grown-up children whose sense and high intelligence persist
in being a mystery to him.
He has had non-fiction work published on local climate and remote sensing in
Huddersfield and Chester along with several articles in academic journals such
as Weather, Geographical Magazine and the TES. A
keen cyclist, he is a journalist for a cycling magazine.
Geoff is a member of the British Science Fiction Association and a member of
its special interest critique group, Orbiters. He is also a member of the British
Fantasy Society and is a member of the Society of Authors.
He has had short stories accepted for publication by small press publishers
such as Crystal and Gatto, Jimston Journal, Reality Complex, Shots, Tales from
the Moonlit Path, Jupiter and La Fenêtre, and has stories in Horror Masters.
He won a commendation for a story in the Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Competition.
Geoff won the 2005 & 2006 short story competition at Café Doom.
In 2007 Geoff’s Hot Air thriller won a Silver Award from Wuacademia in
the Netherlands for best unpublished novel.

Geoff was the lead scriptwriter for an experimental Internet TV sitcom; subsequently
sold to a US cable company.
He has been a showcased author in Eros & Rust and BeWrite. Geoff has been
a short story (horror) competition judge for Eros & Rust.
