The Rules:
• Write the best mystery (with or without horror elements) you can under
3500 words (include word count on manuscript).
• Please be sure your mystery comes to a resolution within the confines
of your story.
• Send it to us at contest@moonlit-path.com
by August 1st, 2006.
• Please include a bio to be published if your story is chosen as a winner
or honorable mention.
The Prize:
The Grand Prize winner will receive $25
cash PLUS a hardcover copy of The Italian Secretary by Caleb Carr.
"Carr
fails [to replicate Conan Doyle's style], but aside from that (and that's a
big aside), the novel has a number of appealing features for readers who enjoy
Carr and don't mind secondhand Holmes....Great setting, intriguing history,
but clumsy evocation of the inimitable Holmes." -Booklist
"Carr's return to historical fiction...blends detailed history and
thrilling suspense while giving perfect cadence to the verbal discourse between
Holmes and Watson. Placing these famous characters into Carr's capable hands
is a gift to anyone who enjoys mysteries, historical fiction, or just a great
read." -Library Journal
Honorable Mentions will be published in the August Issue of Tales from the Moonlit Path.
