The Rules:

• Write the best story you can under 2000 words (include word count on manuscript).
• In the spirit of the collection of stories offered as the Grand Prize, and of Valentine's Day when the winner and honorable mention will be published, your story needs to be horrific, but with a happy ending. Perhaps this twist on the usual will get you thinking outside the box more than ever before.
• Send it to us at contest@moonlit-path.com by January 26th, 2010.

The Prize:

The Grand Prize winner's story will be published in the February issue of Tales from the Moonlit Path and the author will receive an autographed copy of Scott Nicholson's collection, Thank You for the Flowers.

Featuring: Haunted (First Runner Up, 1999 Darrell Award), The Vampire Shortstop (1999 Hubbard Gold Award Winner), Constitution, Metabolism (recommended for Nebula Award), Homecoming, Dead Air, The Three-Dollar Corpse (recommended for Stoker Award), Thirst, Skin, In the Heart of November, Do You Know Me Yet?, Kill Your Darlings and The Boy Who Saw Fire. Cover painting by John Shamburger.

"Rarely does a story teller weave prose with the emotional energy and sheer gusto of Nicholson. Wasting nothing, his concise, poetic prose squeezes optimum terror and drama from a minimum of words. His colorful, driven narrative style catches the reader in tempests of emotion and strange possibility." -- William P. Simmons for Horrorfind

The tales in this book cover such a range of feeling - from tender to traumatic - and the reader will experience the full range. Nicholson is a gifted writer but a helluva storyteller."-- Jim Brock, Baryon Magazine #79

"Like Ambrose Bierce, Ray Bradbury, Rod Serling, and Robert Aickman before him, Scott Nicholson is impossible to categorize."-- Necrofile

Honorable Mentions will be published in the February Issue of Tales from the Moonlit Path.
