Zombieland
Movie Review

Zombieland, directed by Ruben Fleischer, is a jaunty romp through a (hopefully) fictitious future where zombies rule the Earth.

At the center of the movie is "Columbus," played by Jesse Eisenberg. "No names, please, can't get too attached that way," says Tallahassee (played by Woody Harrelson). Columbus is a gawky teenager who, before the zombie virus broke out, was afraid of pretty much all human interaction. It's to the credit of these loner skills and a very comedic "list" he's developed that explains how and why he's survived the zombie invasion.

Harrelson's character is the exact opposite, hardened, reckless and on a quest for the last Twinkie. Hey, every movie needs plot direction, right, what better than the pursuit of the last ("Because," Tallahassee says, "They DO have expiration dates) golden cream-filled log on Earth. Tallahassee's desire for the Twinkie stems from his incredible love for all things Bill Murray (who makes a cameo appearance). Ghostbusters fans will understand the Twinkie connection.

Wichita, played by the lovely Emma Stone, is Columbus' rival and love interest. Apparently, love can ignite and even flourish in a world rules by viscious, greedy human cannibals.

Overall, Zombieland is laugh-out-loud funny, slick (not just because of all the blood) and clever. A definite recommendation this Halloween season.
